Jacksonville Calls For Evacuations Due To Dorian

Florida Prepares For The Arrival Of Hurricane Dorian

Mandatory evacuations will begin tomorrow morning for parts of Jacksonville as Hurricane Dorian moves nearer to Florida. Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry says folks in low-lying or flood prone areas should start preparing to evacuate tonight so that they're ready to hit the road in the morning. He said one thing is certain with Dorian -- it will impact coastal areas of the city. Dorian is a category five hurricane and is about 175 miles off the Florida coast. It's pounding the Bahamas with winds of 185 miles an hour. It's expected to stay off the Florida coast without making landfall, but it will still bring strong winds and rain to the area.
