The Cowboys ended the preseason with a 17-15 loss to the Buccaneers at AT&T Stadium. Dallas rookie quarterback Taryn Christion completed 11 of 17 passes for 142 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He hooked up with a Jalen Guyton for a 69-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Donovan Olumba returned an interception for 28 yards for the first Dallas score. With Ezekiel Elliott holding out in a contract dispute, the Cowboys rushed for only 40 yards, led by Christion's 22 yards on five totes. Dallas will open the regular season on September 8th against the Giants. Cowboys rookie third-round pick offensive lineman Connor McGovern has reportedly had a setback in recovering from a pectoral injury and could miss the season if surgery is required.
