Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen and Empower Texans CEO Michael Quinn Sullivan are being accused of creating an unregistered political action committee. The Texas Democratic Party sued both men today claiming they violated Texas elections law to influence an election. Bonnen and Sullivan met in June at the State Capitol with Sullivan claiming he was offered a list of Republicans legislators to target in primaries in exchange for media credentials. Bonnen later apologized for the meeting but has not commented on the suit. Sullivan tweeted he believes he'll win in court.
