Eleven people remain hospitalized at Del Sol Trauma in El Paso following Saturday's mass shooting. At a hospital news conference today, CEO David Shimp said six of the patients are in stable condition and one is listed as critical. One survivor named Octavio is set to undergo surgery for a gunshot wound to his foot this afternoon. Speaking to reporters briefly, he said he's in pain and lost a nephew, but is grateful to be alive. Medical Director Dr. Stephen Flaherty said many of the patients being treated at the trauma center suffered devastating wounds. At least 22 people were killed in the first mass shooting in El Paso history.
