DPS Official Charged With Sexual Assault, Fired

The Texas Department of Public Safety is firing a division chief following his arrest on sex assault accusations. Travis County sheriff's deputies arrested John Jones on Tuesday. Jones was relieved from his position as head of the Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division on Wednesday. He's accused of attacking a woman on July 20th in the woods near his Leander home. Bond is 750-thousand dollars. The Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation.
