Edinburg Student Released After Erroneous ICE Arrest

US-IMMIGRATION-ICE

A student athlete from Edinburg is free after being mistakenly arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Francisco Galicia was let go yesterday from the South Texas Detention Complex in Pearsall. He was picked up in Falfurrias in late June but even though he showed agents his birth certificate proving he was born in Dallas in 2000, he was held anyway. Galicia, who is a soccer stand out at Edinburg Economedes High School, was headed to Ranger College west of Fort Worth to attend an athletic scholarship recruiting meeting at the time of his June 27th detention.
