Massive flooding is a major threat as Tropical Storm Barry starts to lash the Louisiana coast. The National Weather Service is warning of life-threatening storm surge of up to six feet in some areas. Forecasters say the slow-moving storm could dump up to 25 inches of rain across the region in the next couple of days. Barry is expected to strengthen and become a hurricane later today or early Saturday. Hurricane watches and warnings are posted for Louisiana's Gulf Coast.
