Drug bust

United States Border Patrol Agents discovered over 1,000 pounds of marijuana during a vehicle stop on Farm to Market Road 170 near the eastern city limits of Presidio, Texas.

Chief Patrol Agent of the Big Bend Sector Matthew Hudak said, “This seizure and these arrests are dramatic examples of the diligent and commendable work done by Border Patrol Agents every day. I am proud of their commitment and unrelenting effort to protect communities along the border and beyond from a wide range of cross-border threats, including the trafficking of illegal narcotics.”

On Tuesday morning, a Border Patrol Agent assigned to the Presidio Border Patrol Station conducted a vehicle stop on a 2004 Chevrolet Van, near the eastern city limits of Presidio. The agent, with the assistance of a Border Patrol canine, discovered large bundles in the back of the van during the stop. After further investigation, agents discovered the bundles contained over 1,000 pounds of marijuana. The marijuana has an approximate street value of nearly one million dollars.

Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident.
