Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott met today with commissioner Roger Goodell in New York. The meeting was in regards to the latest in a series of incidents involving Elliott's behavior. In May, Elliott was handcuffed by a Las Vegas security guard after a scuffle during a musical event, but was not charged.
After his meeting today with Goodell, Elliott released the following statement on Twitter:
Earlier today, I met with the Commissioner to share with him what occurred in Las Vegas and what I have learned from the incident.
I've worked hard to make better decisions and live up to the high standards that are expected of me.
I failed to do that here and I made a poor decision.
I apologized to Kyle Johnson at the time and I meant it.
I need to work harder to ensure I do not put myself in compromised situations in the future. I am rededicating myself to use all of the resources that the league has made available. But in the end, it is up to me and I am determined not to be in this position again,

Elliott was handcuffed by a Vegas security guard at a musical event, but was not arrested. He was shown on video arguing with his girlfriend and using his body to prevent her from walking away when security intervened. Elliott could be fined or suspended under the NFL's personal conduct policy. Elliott was suspended six games in 2017 for violating the policy.
