Texas Governor Greg Abbot has issued a disaster declaration for several Rio Grande Valley areas hit by flooding due to heavy rain. The disaster declaration includes Hidalgo, Willacy and Cameron counties. In a statement, the governor said the state was doing all it could to make sure the three counties had the resources needed to respond to the storm damage. He also asked all Texans to join him in prayers for those affected by the flooding.

“The state of Texas is doing everything it can to ensure these three counties have the resources they need to respond to these storms,” said Governor Abbott. “I ask that all Texans join me and Cecilia in praying for those impacted by severe flooding. By working closely with local officials, we will put the communities of the Rio Grande Valley on a path to recovery.”
