Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced he's sending 1,000 National Guard troops to the border, in an effort to deal with a surge of illegal immigrants. Abbott said the troops are needed because of the thousands of people trying to get across the border each week. He says Congress must do its job and fund border security. The troops will be assisting federal officials in managing the influx.
