Life-Plus For Karate Teacher Convicted Of Child Sex Crimes

Legal office of lawyers, justice and law concept : Wooden judge gavel or a wood hammer and a soundboard used by a judge person on a desk in a courtroom with a blurred brass scale of justice behind.

A 65-year-old karate instructor is off to prison for life plus 20 years after a Hays County jury convicted him of child sex charges. The victim, who is now 21, testified that she and Richard Griffin started a sexual relationship when she was a 14-year-old student at his karate studio in Wimberley. After Griffin fell out with the girl's family, he gave her a cell phone and they continued to meet in secret. Investigators found DNA evidence in his home, along with child porn featuring the victim. There was also evidence he'd been sexting a 12-year-old girl.
