The A's jumped out to an eight-run lead and then had to hold on for a 9-8 win over the Rangers in Arlington. Khris Davis homered and drove in three Oakland runs. Matt Olson hit a two-run homer for the A's. Frankie Montas picked up his eighth win, but after he left Texas scored five runs. Oakland is 3-and-2 in its last five. Asdrúbal Cabrera and Rougned Odor each had three hits and three RBI in defeat. Drew Smyly gave up five runs in three innings to suffer the loss. Texas is 7-and-3 in its last 10 games.
