Mental Evaluation Ordered For Maleah Davis's Stepfather

The stepfather of Maleah Davis will undergo a court-ordered mental health and intellectual evaluation. Derion Vence is accused of dumping the four-year-old girl's body in Arkansas and then reporting her missing. The remains were found last week, and have been returned to Houston and positively identified as Maleah's. The cause of her death hasn't been determined yet. Vence faces a charge of tampering with evidence. He hasn't been charged with killing the girl.

Meanwhile, court orders have been filed so investigators can obtain Vence's cellphone records. They’re wanting to determine who he called before and after the 4-year-old girl's disappearance.
