San Marcos police are investigating a homicide. 23-year-old Demarcus Trey Allen's body was found in an apartment at The Village Apartments. He died of an apparent gunshot wound. A neighbor alerted police after they found a loose dog in the apartment parking lot and followed it back to the apartment where the door had been kicked in. This is the 5th homicide in San Marcos this year.
