A Liberty County Sheriff's deputy is having his condition downgraded after being shot by a murder suspect. The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says Deputy Richard Whitten is critical in a Houston hospital after he was reported critical but stable last night. A bullet hit Whitten in the neck yesterday and he is dealing with swelling. He was responding to a shooting at Cleveland plumbing company when he was attacked. The suspect later killed himself.
