The Houston-to-Dallas high-speed rail project is still on track after lawmakers working on the state budget eliminated a provision that could have delayed it. A joint House and Senate committee took out a budget rider that would have kept TxDOT from working with the rail company until a court rules that the entity has the power of eminent domain. More than 100 landowners in the planned path of the train had hoped to delay it for several years. Texas Central Partners, the project's developer, applauded the move.
