Suspect Arrested Following a 110 MPH Chase Through Southwest Side

A man is in custody after trying to outrun San Antonio Police early today in a chase that wound through southwest side neighborhoods at speeds in excess of 110 mph, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say the spotted a stolen car being driven at San Pedro and Euclid, just north of downtown, about 1AM, but when the officer turned on the lights and siren to make an arrest, the 20 year old driver floored it, and the chase was on.

The man wound down I-10 to Loop 410 and eventually got off at Old Pearsall Rd.

With several officers and the police helicopter overhead, the chase reached speeds of 112 miles an hour.

The suspect finally jumped out of the car and tried to run away from police, but the helicopter spotlight shone on him as he ran.

He was eventually found cowering under a pickup truck and was arrested.

The suspect will face muliple charges, including felony evading arrest, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
