A San Antonio World War II veteran was honored Monday for his heroic deeds.
The Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission honored Gerd Miller and presented him with a "Texas Liberator Medal."
As a member of the German-born American soldiers known as the "Ritchie Boys," Miller served as a U.S. Army Intelligence specialist. He investigated the Nazi concentration camps, and helped to liberate three of them.
He said he cannot forget the horrors he saw more than 70 years ago and stressed the younger generations must learn about the Holocaust.
"The most important thing is to remind the young people and to keep them informed to read, to study and keep in mind: Never Again," Miller said.
