Austin police could soon be able to write tickets to scooter drivers who are a believed to be a danger to the public.
First-time violators would receive a $40 fine that increases to $80 for each additional violation. The fines would target dock-less scooters, bikes, and skateboards.
The Austin City Council will discuss the proposed ordinance next week.
The plan would also outline scooter parking requirements. Riders would be prohibited from parking in front of disability ramps, bus stops, building entrances or public benches.
