Strongest Storms Hit West, North of San Antonio

The heaviest rains this morning fell between Del Rio and Burnet, as the bulk of the major storm system slid off to the north of San Antonio, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Some areas in the Hill Country northwest of Austin reported an inch of rain and wind gusts of more than 40 miles an hour. Some severe thunderstorm warnings were posted for the area, but they have since expired.

No flooding or damage is reported. High winds were blamed for the crash of an 18 wheeler on Loop 1604 early today.

In San Antonio, the southern tail of the storm moved through the area, dumping what the National Weather Service reported 'garden variety' showers, mainly on the northwest and west side.

Even though the roads are wet, no street flooding or storm related power outages are reported in Bexar county.

The rain is moving quickly and should be out of the area by mid morning, leaving behind a sunny afternoon with highs in around 80 degrees.
