The Pentagon says thousands more troops will be deployed to the U.S./Mexico border to help with border security. Acting Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan said Tuesday that 'several thousand' troops will be deployed in a 'support role'. Duties will include putting up more barbed wire barriers and helping with surveillance. About 2,300 active troops are currently stationed at the border, down from nearly 5,900 back in November. An additional 2,300 national guardsmen are also deployed.
