Talk about a rude awakening!
A man in his late fifties was sound asleep in his home in the 300 block of Laurelwood, which is near the intersection of Basse and Blanco about 1:30 when a car smashed through the wall of his bedroom and came to rest in the middle of the room.
Police say the driver was going far too fast when he took the turn from Basse onto Allena, lost control of his car, smashed through a fence, and slammed into the back of the house.
The driver of the car jumped out and ran away, leaving his car inside the man's house. The victim was checked out at the scene and was okay.
He was apparently not hit by the car as it smashed into his bedroom.
