A man in his twenties is facing criminal charges in connection with a wreck on the northwest side overnight that left a man dead, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say witnesses say the white pickup truck ‘driving erratically’ down Callaghan Rd. on the city’s northwest side. One man said he saw sparks flying out of the bottom of the truck when its undercarriage scraped the street.
At one point a passerby noticed that the pickup had run over a man who was walking down Callaghan Rd.The driver did not stop to help, but sped away. The victim died at the scene.
About two hours later the truck was found parked at an apartment complex at 5380 Medical Dr, not far from the scene of the wreck.
The driver was arrested for failure to stop and render aid, and he is also being tested for possible DWI
