San Antonio is getting even more of those e-scooters which have taken over downtown...this time from Uber, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The company, which is best known for ride sharing, says San Antonio is one of the first cities where it is launching both e-scooters and bikes, under the JUMP! label. Both of the devices can be unlocked with the Uber app which is used to summon an Uber ride.
“With the launch of JUMP in San Antonio, we are excited about getting more people on bikes and scooters,” said Vinnie Campo, general manager for JUMP. “We believe JUMP will give San Antonians yet another option to move about the city. Affordable and environmentally friendly, dockless mobility has the potential to ease congestion."
To celebrate its arrival in San Antonio, Uber JUMP plans to have free helmets available at the Greenlight Hub at 121 Interpark Blvd Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while supplies last.
Uber JUMP is also offering free rides through February 4th, up to 15 minutes per ride up to five rides per day for both bikes and e-scooters.
The e-scooters, which have taken over downtown, have now spread to Alamo Heights, the Pearl, and other neighborhoods.
They are simply picked up where they are located, and the rider can leave them at his or her destination.
The City is in the middle of coming up with new regulations for the scooters.
