A 19 year old Bexar County Jail inmate has died following what officials call a 'medical episode,' News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The Sheriff says Joshua Miranda, who was in the jail after his arrest on January 6th on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, was found unresponsive by detention officers during a routine cell check.
EMS was called, and he was transferred to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 5:40 this morning.
Sheriff's department internal affairs will conduct an investigation under the terms of the Sandra Bland Act, which requires special procedures for jail inmates who may have emotional or physical challenges.
There is no indication of foul play in Miranda's death.
