A security guard was shot overnight as he tried to stop two men from breaking into a west side apartment, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police were called by the guard to the Westward Apartments in the 2600 block of Westward, which is north of Highway 90.
The guard said he caught two men trying to break into an apartment.. He was attempting to detain them for police, when one of the wanna-be burglars pulled a gun and started shooting.
The guard received a minor wound to the hand.. The two men ran off and remain at large.
