Vacant West Side Home Destroyed by Fire

Vagrants squatting in an abandoned west side home are suspected in an overnight fire that destroyed the house, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

When firefighters arrived a the home on Greyrock Street, which is just off South Acme Road, the small frame home was already consumed by flames.

Nobody was hurt, and the house has been ruled to be a total loss.

Witnesses saw a man running from the home and arson investigators are looking into the cause.

It is not unusual for homeless people and drug users to spend the night in vacant homes, frequently setting fires to stay warm on chilly nights.
