Average San Antonio Gas Price Falls Below $2.00

As millions of Texans hit the road for the holidays, the average price of gas in San Antonio has fallen below $2 a gallon for the first time in more than a year, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

AAA Texas says the average price today is $1.95, and GasBuddy says its not hard to find gas all around the city selling in the $1.75-$1.78 range.

AAA Texas expects 8.4 million Texans to drive to their holiday destination this year, which is a four percent increase year-over-year,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas/AAA New Mexico spokesperson. “No doubt cheaper gas prices are fueling their decision to hit the road."

The last time San Antonio motorists paid as little as $1.95 for gas was July of 2017, as gas prices began to creep up from the lows of 2016.

Today's low prices come despite an effort by OPEC to cut production to try to drive prices up, which appears to be completely ineffective.Crude oil prices continue their free fall, which means gas prices should remain low into the new year.
