Babies are a gift from God, and starting today, the maternity ward at Methodist Hospital is sending newborns home in baby stockings, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The red and white fuzzy stockings were hand made by members of the hospital's Blue Bird Auxilliary. The Blue Birds have been working on the Chrstmas stockings since spring.
The babies are also given a matching holiday red and white hat to celebrate the Christmastime birthdays they will enjoy all their lives.
Dressing Christmas babies in holiday stockings has been a Methodist tradition for more than fifty years.
Babies are presented to their proud parents in the stockings, and have their first photo taken in them.
Methodist Hospital is the leading maternity ward in the San Antonio area.
