Macron To Make Announcement After Paris Protests

Paris protests

A major announcement will come at some  point this week from French President Emmanuel Macron following the violent protests in Paris.   A government spokesman made the statement today on French television,  but gave no details on what Macron will announce or when.  Protesters  wearing yellow vests have been demonstrating across France, demanding  lower taxes, higher minimum wages and better pension benefits.  The  protest has spread into neighboring Belgium, where police detained over  400 people yesterday when demonstrators wearing yellow vests began  rioting in Brussels.  Police say riot squads used water cannons and tear  gas to keep a crowd of about a thousand away from the headquarters of  the European Union.
