Bexar Deputy in Officer Involved Shooting

A Bexar County Sheriffs Deputy shot a suspect this afternoon, officials confirm to 1200 WOAI news.

It happened near 281 and Rockport Rd.

Officials say the deputy had pulled over a vehicle for speeding and saw  that the driver was wanted for felony warrants.

When the driver attempted to jump back into his car and appeared to be reaching for a weapon, the deputy fired one shot, hitting the suspect in the stomach.

He was rushed to the hospital.  The deputy was not hurt.

Officials say the scene is secured and there is no danger to the public.

But portions of 1604 and 281 have had to be closed for the investigation.
