'Street Wise' Fiesta 2019 Poster Unveiled

It may be late October, but its never too early to start thinking about Fiesta, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The 2019 Fiesta Poster, entitled 'Traditions' was unveiled at an event last night at the Witte Museum which featured plenty of shouts of 'Viva Fiesta!'

The poster, which was commissioned from the wall mural collabortative known as 'Los Otros Murals,' pays tribute to the city's growing vibrant 'street art tradition.'

Artist Shek Vega, who along with his partner Nik Soupe are responsible for dozens of eye-catching murals on fences and walls across the city, says street art is perfect for such a puro San Antonio celebration.

"Fiesta is something where traditions are born and created year after year," he said.  "That's what makes San Antonio great.  The community creates everything that's great about it."

The poster, along with other Fiesta items, go on sale today at the Fiesta Store on Broadway. The poster, which was described as 'sassy,' features San Antonio landmarks on top of a sombrero, and topped with the word 'Fiesta' in the faux-Gothic script which is common in street art.

Six months from now we'll be preparing for the Battle of Flowers parade.  Fiesta opens on April 18th and runs through April 28th.
