Three people were shot, one critically, early today in the parking lot of a popular night club in the LGBTQ friendly stretch of North Main Street north of downtown, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The incident took place in the parking lot of Pegasus, which is located in the 1400 block of North Main Street, just a block from the city's landmark 'Rainbow Crosswalk.'
Police say the shooting stemmed from an argument, and apparently had nothing to do with the politics of the neighborhood.
They say an argument erupted in the parking lot at about 12:30 AM, and one of the men involved ran to his car, grabbed a gun, and started firing wildly into a group of people.
Three people, two men and a woman, were hit by gunfire. One was shot in the shoulder, one in the arm, and one in the chest.
All three were rushed to SAMMC where their conditions range from stable to critical.
The gunman, described as in his twenties, jumped into his car and sped away, but police have both witness testimony and security video of the incident and expect to make an arrest.
