HBO To Drop Boxing Coverage After 45 Years

HBO

HBO Boxing will soon be no more.  Home Box Office has announced plans to drop its live boxing coverage by the end of the year.  HBO has been one of the top broadcasters of boxing the last 45 years and many notable fighters, including Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Oscar de la Hoya and Roy Jones Jr. have appeared on the channel.  HBO has aired more than 11-hundred fights, with the first coming in 1973 in a heavyweight title bout between George Foreman and Joe Frazier.  HBO will air its final boxing card October 27th with a pair of title fights at Madison Square Garden in New York.
