Bexar Deputy Arrested for DWI, is Immediately Fired

A Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy was immediately fired Saturday morning after being arrested by San Antonio Police early today for drunk driving, becoming the 20th deputy to be arrested in 2018, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The deputy, a 12 year veteran identified as Diana Barrera, 51, was discharged because he was already on administrative leave for a previous, unrelated offense , what Sheriff Javier Salazar called "a continuing pattern of misconduct that seriously impairs job effectiveness."

Former Deputy Barrera was a detention officer.

"I have made my stance clear on misconduct," Salazar said.. "It will be dealt with as swiftly and severely as possible.. To maintain the integrity of this organization, I have personally terminated this employee  for a pattern of illegal behavior."
