The Texans ran out of time before they could attempt a tying field goal as the Titans held on for a 20-17 win in Nashville. Quarterback Marcus Mariota didn't play due to an elbow injury, and safety Kevin Byard threw a 66-yard touchdown to Dane Cruikshank on a fake punt in the first quarter. Blaine Gabbert threw for a score in Mariota's absence and Ryan Succop kicked the tying and go-ahead field goals in the fourth. The Titans are 1-and-1. Deshaun Watson threw for 310 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for Houston. The final play was a 31-yard completion to DeAndre Hopkins that put Houston in field goal range, but time expired before it could run another play.
The Texans are back in action on Sunday, September 23 against the Giants.
