Serena Williams Upset At U.S. Open

Serena Williams

Serena Williams is coming up short in  her bid for a 24th Grand Slam singles championship.  Naomi Osaka upset Serena in an emotional women's final at the U.S. Open.  The 20 year-old  Osaka beat Williams in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.  It came after Williams  screamed at the umpire after she had a point taken away from her for two  code violations in the second set.  The victory was a dream come true  for Osaka, who said Serena was her idol.  She became the first Japanese  player to win a Grand slam singles title.
