H-E-B Opening Tech Incubator

San Antonio based H-E-B is setting up a tech facility in Austin to come up with strategies to become a 'dominant force in digital retail,' News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

H-E-B has purchased an 81,000 square foot office in East Austin which will be used by the grocery chain and its on demand delivery subsidiary Favor.

“This state-of-the-art space will be a hub for creativity and innovation as we continue to develop the ultimate digital experience for our customers,” said Jag Bath, H-E-B Chief Digital Officer and Favor CEO and President. “Bringing H-E-B and Favor closer together will allow us to promote collaboration between our two companies as we strengthen our commitment to building out H-E-B’s omnichannel services.”

H-E-B is pioneering curbside pickup, and on demand home grocery delivery, and the company says it will use the Austin facility as an 'innovation lab' for its growing digital operations.

The new facility will also handle product design and other cutting edge developments to its core grocery business.

H-E-B is already the largest privately held employer in Texas.
