Protesters Clash Outside Houston Islamic Convention

Houston

Houston police say tensions flared Saturday as more than a hundred protestors and counter-protestors  clashed outside an Islamic convention downtown.  Around 20 members of a  group called Texas Patriot Network gathered near the George R. Brown  Convention Center where the 55th annual Islamic Society of North America  event is being held.  They were outnumbered by around 80 counter-protestors calling them Nazis.  Police say three people had to  be briefly detained when a patriot group member jumped a barricade and  started punching a counter-protestor.  No one was arrested but a number  of people were told to leave the area.
