Angels Foil Astros With Four-Run Sixth

Justin Upton's RBI single ignited a four-run sixth inning and the Angels went on to beat the Astros 5-2 in Houston.  Andrelton Simmons capped the frame with a three-run  double as Los Angeles took a 4-0 lead.  Andrew Heaney fired six frames  of five-hit ball to even his record at 8-and-8.  The Angels won for just  the third time in their last 12 games.  Justin Verlander struck out 11,  but gave up three runs in less than six innings to take the loss.   Tyler White broke up the shutout with a two-run homer in the ninth.  The  'Stros lead the A's by two-and-a-half games in the AL West.
