Four People Standing at West Side Bus Stop Hit by Speeding Car

Four people were rushed to hospitals in critical condition after they were run over by a car that jumped a curb on Culebra Rd. at Zarzamora St. on the city's west side and bowled over them as they were standing at a bus stop, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Matt Rodriguez, who saw the accident happen, said it was the 'most horrific thing I've ever seen in my life.'

He said the driver of the car was speeding down Culebra Rd., swerved to avoid a car that was stopped at a red light, and lost control of his car, slamming into the four people, including a pregnant woman.

Two people who were inside the car were also rushed to the hospital.  Police said the four who were run over at the bus stop are in critical condition.

Rodriguez said the pregnant woman appeared to be hurt the most."She couldn't move, she was spitting up blood," he said.

A woman walked by and started yelling at police, 'put him in jail!'The driver is in custody, but police have not announced what charges he will face.
