Two Men Shot in East Side Ambush

A man was ambushed as he walked into a Valero station on the city's east side overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

"A black Nissan pulled up behind him, and the driver of the Nissan jumped out and fired multiple shots at the victim," Police Chief William McManus told reporters at the scene in the 200 block of W.W. White.

The victim, a 32 year old man, was rushed to SAMMC where he was listed in extremely critical condition with several gunshot wounds.  More than a dozen shell casings were found at the scene.

As is usual in cases like this, and completely unimportant to the gunman, was the collateral damage.

"There was another victim who was also hit, an innocent bystander who was shot in the back, non life threatening," McManus said.

McManus said the Nissan carrying the gunman sped away southbound on W.W. White and remains at large.

Police have  motive in the double shooting.
