The Rangers built a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning and held off the Athletics for a 4-2 win in Oakland. Mike Minor allowed just one hit over the first six innings for the win. Shin-Soo Choo and Joey Gallo hit solo homers, and Adrian Beltre had a pair of RBI singles for Texas. Minor got his 10th win and Jose Leclerc recorded his sixth save as the Rangers avoided a three-game sweep. Edwin Jackson took the loss for Oakland, which lost for just the third time in its last 11 games. Stephen Piscotty and Jed Lowrie had RBI doubles for the A's in defeat.
