Former Antonian H.S. Principal Named in Pennsylvania Pedophile Priest Probe

One of the Roman Catholic priests who was named in that Pennsylvania grand jury report which identified more than 100 priests accused of molesting children spent most of his career in San Antonio, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The Archdiocese says The Rev. David Connell came to San Antonio in 1976, and joined the faculty of Antonian High School as a biology and theology tacher.  He was also Vice Principal and Principal of Antonian High School until 1988.

In 1989, Father Connell moved to St. Thomas More Church, where he served as pastor until his death in 1995.

The Pennsylvania grand jury report says Connell 'made a pass at' a student during a camping trip while he was a teacher at a Catholic high school in Pottsville Pennsyvania, a charge Connell denied at the time.

The San Antonio Archdiocese says it has no record of Father Connell ever being accused of misbehavior with children in San Antonio, but it is encouraging anybody who may have information to the contrary to come forward.

The Director of the Archdiocese Office of Victim Assistance, Steve Martinez, will hear any concerns about Father Connell.
