The Mariners chased Justin Verlander early as they downed the Astros 8-6 in Houston. Mitch Haniger, Denard Span and Jean Segura each launched homers off Verlander, who allowed six runs before getting ejected for arguing. James Paxton improved to 4-and-0 against Houston this season. Edwin Diaz notched his 43rd save as Seattle snapped a two-game skid. Tyler White homered in the ninth for Houston. Verlander failed in his bid for his 200th career win. Houston had won six of its previous seven games.
