A man in his sixties was killed overnight when he tried to walk across Enrique Barrera Parkway on the city's west side away from a marked crosswalk, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the man was hit by an SUV. The driver told police that he didn't' see the man in the darkness and he won't face charges.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
San Antonio has a growing problem with people benig killed or seriously hurt when they try to dash across busy streets, frequently in darkened places away from crosswalks.
In many cases, the location where the victim dies is 100 yards or less away from a lighted, marked crosswalk, but the person chose instead to try to run across the road.
