100 Mile an Hour Early Morning Chase Spans Two Counties

A man is in custody following a wild two county police chase early today that reached speeds of more than 100 miles an hour on Highway 181 and on I-37, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

It began in Floresville about 1AM, when an officer attempted to pull over a pick up truck.

But the driver decided to make a run for it, rushing onto 181 with police in pursuit.  The chase sped up 181 to I-37, and then the suspect bailed out at I-37 and Southeast Military and tried to escape on foot through the darkness.

He didn't get far, and as arrested by DPS Troopers.

Turned out the guy had good reason not to want to be captured.  Officials say he was in possession of drugs, and guns, and the pickup he was driving was stolen.
