Two People Shot, Stabbed While Trying to Break up Southtown Bar Fight

Two people are in critical condition after they were assaulted while they were trying to break up a fight between a man and a woman outside a bar in the Southtown area south of downtown early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say the man and woman, who police said had arrived at the bar at Pereida and South Presa together, began bickering inside the bar.When closing time arrived, the two went outside and started yelling at each other in the parking lot.

At one point, the man allegedly attacked the woman.Several other bar patrons tried to intervene, but one man was shot several times, and a woman was stabbed multiple times.

No word on who did the stabbing and the shooting, but several people sped away on motorcycles right after the incident.

Both the man and the woman who tried to intervene are in critical condition at SAMMC with multiple wounds.No word on what happened to the couple who had been arguing.  Police say they may have left with the people on the motorcycles.
