An antique plane crashed on the runway of the Burnet Municipal Airport Saturday morning, according to the Burnet County Sheriff's Office.
Officials with the FAA said the Bluebonnet Belle, a twin-engine Douglas DC-3 carrying 14 people, crashed while attempting to take off. According to preliminary information, the plane was on its takeoff roll when it veered off the edge of the runway and caught fire. The aircraft was heading to Oshkosh, WI.
All people onboard survived and were able to exit the plane. One person was airlifted by helicopter to SAMC with significant burn injuries. Seven people were ground transported to Seton Highland Lakes with minor injuries.
The plane caught fire as well as nearby grass. The fires were extinguished by responding fire departments.
The NTSB is the lead investigative agency and the FAA is a party to the investigation.
